In this role, the successful candidate will effectively coach and consult business leaders by supporting the delivery of multiple HR programs.   • Deliver HR service and consultation across a spectrum of areas including: Employment Legislation, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Succession & Workforce Planning, Total Rewards, Disability Management, Benefits, Leadership Development, Employee Onboarding, Organization Design

  • Accountable to ensure that People processes are compliant with company policies and current employment legislation

  • Understanding business goals to recommend and implement People solutions that are in line with Summit Nanotech’s culture and business strategy

  • Provides coaching to leaders to assist them in effectively applying company policies, guidelines and regulations to employee issues and concerns (e.g., performance, behavior, conflict resolution, termination)

  • Provide coaching, advice, and feedback to the Summit leaders with data-driven recommendations that help them improve team performance, retention, and the overall employee experience

  • Assess and recommend practical solutions to often ambiguous and complex people situations;

  • Mediate and facilitate conflict resolution

  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure a workforce plan and budget is in place to meet ongoing recruitment needs, in alignment with Summit’s strategy

  • Manage job evaluations, and compensation adjustments to ensure consistency and internal equity

  • Responsible to support short-term and long-term disability case management


  • 8+ years of HR Business Partner/HR Generalist experience

  • Solid knowledge of Canadian Federal and Provincial employment law

  • Experience with Compensation/Total Rewards would be an strong asset

  • A strong consulting orientation and client focus with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with client groups

  • Critical thinker who can combine multiple sources of information to drive to practical solutions;

  • Strong track record in demonstrating Human Resources principles within a service delivery model

  • The ability to be comfortable with high volume workload in a solutions focused environment which demands strong deliverables

  • A positive, “roll up your sleeve” team-player attitude and customer focused approach to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy, and humility

  • Experience with Humi HR or other HR Systems is a plus; proficiency with MS Office 365 programs including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required

  • Post-secondary education is required, with a preference for a Human Resource-related discipline

  • CPHR Designation is an asset
