LAB TECHNICIAN

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Laboratory with a background in Analytical. Reporting to the Team Manager, this scientist will work closely with our internal team to develop lithium selective materials 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand standard operating procedures for laboratory equipment and methods including maintenance, calibration and operation (e.g. running titrations, performing analysis on an ICP-OES, IC).

  • Perform sample preparation for material characterization. 

  • Set up sample production and testing programs according to lab SOPs.

  • Work with team manager on designing experiments, execute experiments, perform data analysis, log, and report results.

  • Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses using the appropriate technical equipment and instrumentation, with quality controls in place.

  • Maintain a clean work area, practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • 2-3 years of relevant lab experience.

  • Completion of Laboratory Technician, Laboratory Assistant certificate program from a recognized institution or,

  • College diploma or BSc. in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, or any other relevant.

  • Familiarity with WHMIS or TDG.

  • May be required periodically to physically lift loads with teams (up to 50 lbs). Must be comfortable with bending, reaching, pushing, pulling and reach overhead in accordance with safe ergonomic practices (and as guided by EH&S team).
